Changes to Kaletra and Norvir supply
AbbVie, the company that makes Kaletra (lopinavir and ritonavir) and Norvir (ritonavir), will stop supplying these HIV medicines worldwide.
In Australia, they will stay available until October 2027.
This affects:
- Kaletra tablets (200 mg/50 mg)
- Kaletra oral solutions
- Norvir tablets (100 mg)
What this means for you
If you take Kaletra or Norvir, there’s no need to change anything right now. Keep taking your medication as prescribed.
There is plenty of time to plan. At your next appointment, talk with your HIV doctor or prescriber about what will work best for you after October 2027. Many newer HIV treatments are now available, and your doctor can help you find the right option.
AbbVie says the change reflects how HIV treatment has moved on since these medicines were first approved in the 1990s and early 2000s.
