Our Approach

Disability support built for the mainstream doesn't always know what to do with an LGBTIQA+ client, and that uncertainty can get in the way of good care. Our team understands both disability and LGBTIQA+ identity, so you get support that responds to the whole of who you are, with the choice and control that's yours by right.

  • Person-centred support based on your goals
  • A culturally safe and stigma-free environment
  • Choice and control over your supports
  • Flexible and accessible service delivery
  • Understanding of LGBTIQA+ identities and experiences

Thorne Harbour Health cannot assist with NDIS applications. A good first step is to speak with your GP, who can provide advice and the written evidence required for your application.

Learn more about applying for the NDIS

Include clear written evidence from relevant health professionals and service providers. Your application should explain both your disability and how it affects your daily life, independence and participation.

Community participation funding can support activities that help you connect with your community, including training, work opportunities, volunteering and social activities.

Thorne Harbour provides community participation support Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 8pm.

A support coordinator helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with suitable services and make the most of your funding to work towards your goals.

Thorne Harbour can provide NDIS-funded counselling if you have a psychosocial disability, your plan includes sufficient funding for therapeutic supports, usually under Improved Daily Living, and counselling aligns with your NDIS goals.
