Free, LGBTIQA+ affirming support if someone is hurting, controlling or frightening you.
You don't have to know whether what you're experiencing counts as "family violence" before reaching out. For LGBTIQA+ people 18 and over who are currently unsafe, planning to leave, or recovering from family or domestic violence within the last two years — including safety planning, counselling, and referrals to legal and wellbeing services.
What is Family Violence?
Family violence includes behaviour used to control, threaten or harm someone within a relationship, family, or other close connection.
Mainstream family violence services don't always understand LGBTIQA+ relationships and families of choice, and that gap can stop people asking for help. We do understand, and we start by listening without judgement.

Our services
We provide free, confidential support for LGBTIQA+ people and people living with HIV who are experiencing family violence. We also support people who have left a violent relationship or are planning to leave.
When you contact us, you'll speak with someone who will listen without judgement and help you understand your options.
Depending on your situation, we may connect you with:
- Safety planning
- Counselling
- Legal, health and wellbeing services
If the right service isn't immediately available, we'll stay in touch and continue checking on your safety and support needs while you wait.
Our service supports LGBTIQA+ people, aged 18 and over, who are:
- Currently in unsafe domestic or family violence situations
- Planning to leave a violent relationship
- Recovering from family or domestic violence experienced within the last two years
Getting support is simple.
